Monitoring Solar Panel Performance with Custom Software

Having previously installed Power Monitoring Expert (PME) at the site we had the means to get the information they were requiring. Our PME team was able to develop a custom framework that they installed on the ION 7650 power meters already on site to collect the data the client needed. A custom dashboard with client branding was then built to pull in this data and calculate the specific metrics the client requested. They now had all their data in one easy-to-read place.

The client came to us with a requirement to see the output their onsite solar panels were producing and where that power was being used. They needed to validate their investment and set a number of internal KPIs to showcase to shareholders. They also wanted the ability to see trends and metrics at the click of a button that could be accessible throughout the organisation.

The client has total transparency over their site now. They can monitor the ongoing performance of their solar panels in real-time, see where the energy is being used, and what that equivalates to. Their reporting is more accurate and their decision-making process improved. Shareholders are satisfied with the return on investment, and it reflects positively on the company that they’re transitioning towards renewable energy which in turn feeds into their corporate social responsibility and KPIs.
