Premium Power today announced that it has entered into an agreement to join ABB, a global technology leader in electrification and automation. The transaction, expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, marks a significant milestone in Premium Power’s growth journey and will enable the company to expand its advisory impact across a broader European customer base. Financial terms were not disclosed.

For more than two decades, Premium Power has built its reputation as a trusted independent advisor, helping customers design, analyze and optimize complex electrical power systems. Its expertise spans power system studies, grid modelling, electrical safety, compliance and risk management, supporting mission-critical sectors where resilience, uptime and regulatory compliance are essential.

As electrification accelerates and power systems become more complex due to digitalization, renewable energy integration and evolving grid requirements, customers increasingly need specialist engineering insight to ensure their electrical infrastructure is resilient, efficient and future-ready. Joining ABB will enable Premium Power to scale its expertise and support customers more comprehensively — from early-stage system design through to operational optimization and long-term planning.

The combination will allow Premium Power’s advisory capabilities to be integrated into ABB’s Electrification Service offering, creating new opportunities to support customers at the electrical system level with greater reach, resources and continuity.

Paula O’Neill, Managing Director of Premium Power, said:

“For more than two decades, Premium Power has built its reputation by helping customers solve complex electrical challenges with technical rigor, independence and trusted expertise. Joining ABB represents an exciting next chapter that allows us to scale that impact while preserving the engineering excellence and customer focus that define our business. Together, we will be able to support customers earlier, more consistently and at greater scale as their electrical systems become more complex and critical to their operations.”

Founded in 2001 and headquartered near Dublin, Ireland, Premium Power employs more than 40 specialist engineers and consultants. Its customers include global data center operators, pharmaceutical manufacturers and industrial companies that depend on highly reliable electrical infrastructure.

By joining ABB, Premium Power will enhance its ability to help customers assess system risks, strengthen energy resilience and plan for future growth — ensuring their electrical systems are designed not only to perform today, but to adapt to tomorrow’s challenges.
