Fionn McKnight, software engineer with Premium Power, celebrated receiving his certificate in Excellence in Innovation for successfully completing the InterTradeIreland FUSION programme this week.
The InterTradeIreland FUSION programme enables organisations to develop innovative products, partnering high calibre science, technology or engineering graduates with a third level institute for expertise and guidance and supports. Fionn is also completing a Business and Management diploma at Queen’s University under the Fusion programme.
Fionn worked on the development of ‘SafeSite Live’, a specialist permitting and contractor management software system for industry, and was partnered with Ulster University. The software developed by Premium Power is being rolled out across pharmaceutical and manufacturing facilities and being trialled by leading contractors.
Speaking about the development of the software, Fionn said: “We have worked to deliver a customisable software to allow health and safety and operations managers manage their safety permits and contractors on site. We are advocates of achieving the safest working environment possible and I enjoyed bringing the software to market level.”
FUSION has been very successful recruiting around 100 graduates every year who have gone on to hold key senior positions in their placement companies. “I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the programme. Most of all I’ve enjoyed taking a project from an idea, to development to actually seeing the software delivered and working within industry,” said Fionn.
